Harbour Mouth

£650

“Just beyond the harbour mouth in Mousehole, the light often catches on Mount’s Bay and bounces sunshine through the ‘gap’. That world beyond the protective harbour walls was something, as children, we feared and yearned for in equal measure. If you could avoid the pirates who lured you out of bounds, there was the tantalising potential of mermaids and treasure – but who would dare? In this picture, sweeping brush strokes on the side of a boat remind me of that landscape, the cold shady areas at the base of the enormous harbour walls, and the dazzling light beyond.” – Hilary Stock
